Britannia acquires Cable Cars in St Helens merger.

ST HELENS — Britannia has agreed to acquire and proceed with a merger with St Helens taxi and private hire company Cable Cars for as of Monday 18th January 2021 as it aims to expand its presence in St Helens and Lancashire and becomes the largest company in the St Helens region. This merger has been confirmed by both Britannia and Cable and will make for a faster, more efficient service for all customers, strengthening community relations within St Helens.

The companies announced on Tuesday morning; Britannia will combine Cable Cars with its own subsidiary, Britannia Radio Cars, which has been stable during the coronavirus pandemic after offering free settle to drivers and providing take away services, and transport services for large accounts in the Northwest as well as supporting Half Term School Meals for children amongst other initiatives and charities. Cable will no longer continue to operate under its own name or brand and merge with Britannia.

Britannia which has an efficient quick 3 click automated booking base, connects drivers, riders and account customers for fast, safe and efficient service all over the Liverpool City Region and Wigan, having grown over the past 5 years, fuelled by an exciting expansion plan including within St Helens itself. Britannia offers a brand new app service, for customers, with over 60% of all bookings being automated and a strong digital payment platform. While more people have been using Britannia’s services such as, APP bookings, delivery services for food and parcels and digital payment for rides, during the pandemic, Britannia has been able to capitalise with this acquisition and further build relationship with Cable by absorbing staff, drivers and customers into their system seamlessly.

Britannia will acquire Cables phone numbers, so customers can continue to book using their usual number, they will acquire the property in which customers in St Helens know so well and is a pillar of their local community for enquiries and bookings pre pandemic as a passenger collection point. Britannia will also be aiming to migrate 100% of Cables 10,000+ previous APP customer base on to their new APP platform within the first 3 months of acquisition. The purchase will see Britannia not only increase it’s fleet but will bring over 100,000 customers and corporate accounts holders in the St Helens and surrounding area, but will also be utilising Cable Taxis infrastructure in the St Helens community, which has been strong with a loyal customer base.
